Resemblances and differences between osteoradionecrosis of the jaw and medication-related osteonecrosis of the jaw

Aim. The aim of this retrospective study was to identify the clinical, radiological, and histological characteristics patients diagnosed with osteonecrosis jaw (ONJ) treated at Oral Maxillo-Facial Surgery Clinic Emergency Clinical County Hospital Targu Mures between 2017 2022. aimed analyze correlations patient characteristics, particularly their history bone modifying agent use or local radiotherapy during cancer treatment, in order specific profiles that could aid evaluating treatment response guide individualized strategies.
 Methods. Fifty-two ONJ were included study. divided into two groups based on medical history: group group. Clinical, data collected analyzed. Statistical analysis, including p-values, performed compare groups.
 Results. Patients significantly older than those (66 years vs. 56.9 years, p=0.001). There a higher proportion males compared (90% 22%, p<0.001). Jaw involvement more prevalent (95% 66%, p=0.018). Histological analysis showed similar frequency Actinomyces species both (50% 34%, p=0.264).
 Conclusions. findings suggest existence distinct (bone radiotherapy) ONJ. older, predominantly male, exhibited prevalence involvement. revealed no significant differences groups. These may indicate different responses emphasizing need for strategies tailored characteristics. Further research is warranted validate these develop personalized approaches managing
